Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we wrap up summer and prepare for an exciting year ahead. As we were sharing earlier this summer, our team has been hard at work getting classrooms and programs ready and we are eager to welcome students back for the first day of school on Thursday, September 4, 2025!
We’re especially excited to share that we may be joined by special guests from the Chancellor’s Office on opening day to help us celebrate and kick off the new school year. We’ll be sure to capture and share photos from this memorable start!
Mark Your Calendar & Reminders
- First Day of School: Thursday, September 4. You can view the full NYC Department of Education calendar here:
https://www.schools.nyc.gov/calendar/2025-2026-school-year-calendar - Back to School Open House: Monday, September 15 at 2:30 PM – visit classrooms, meet teachers and staff, learn about this year’s learning goals, and connect with fellow families.
- School Supplies: A copy of the supply lists for each grade is attached. Please review them as you prepare for the start of school.
- Uniforms: Our school is a uniform school. Students should wear white tops and grey bottoms each day. More details about the policy and supports for families are attached in our Student/Family Handbook.
- Cell Phones: In alignment with the new state regulations banning student cell phones in school buildings, we will continue to use our check-in/check-out system, as we did last year. This approach helps students stay focused on learning, strengthens classroom community, and reduces distractions and conflicts. Our full Cell and Electronic Devices policy is attached in our Student/Family Handbook.
Welcome to New Staff
We are excited to introduce several new team members joining our school community this year. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome—they bring expertise, energy, and fresh perspectives that will enrich our students’ learning and experiences:
- Ms. Rivera – 6th Grade ELA and Social Studies Teacher
- Mr. Kake – 7th Grade Math Teacher
- Mr. Hill – Music Teacher
We are looking forward to a year filled with growth, discovery, and community. Thank you for all you do to support your child’s learning—we can’t wait to see our students walk through the doors on Thursday!
Best wishes,
Bryanna Velazquez,
Principal
